CAD/LAN System Guidebook: Introduction
Our Mission
The CAD/LAN group at The University of Kansas is involved in the ongoing process of creating a WWW delivered, graphic database detailing the complete campus infrastructure. This graphic data, combined with intelligent links to existing departmental databases and an encompassing construction project/scheduling application create a modern, centralized, data-retrieval system that is employed throughout the institution by numerous departments serving a variety of purposes. These purposes include but are not limited to:
- Facility Management
- Facility Audits
- Site/Space Planning
- Energy Management
- New Building Projects
- Existing Building Renovation
- Existing Building Improvement
- Emergency Response
Audience
This guidebook was created with two distinct audiences in mind. The University of Kansas technicians, planners and managers involved in the creation, modification and analysis of the data provided by the CAD/LAN system and the outside consultants, vendors and associates who need access to the Universities current data, policies, procedures and CAD Standards.
Within the University, the principal departments that share the information and resources outlined in this guidebook are:
